Malta Chamber of Commerce Membership Meeting

  1. Call to order

In attendance:

-Steph Benson (First Sec. Bank) business in focus is Beth Casebolt,

- Tanner Kelly & Bob Galt (First State Bank) they are working on new billboards as theirs are older and faded,

- Eric Wilke (Radio Shack) has partenered with Hobbytown America and has some new offerings coming soon,

-  Jessica Cebluski (Independence Bank) has a new realestate lendor Randy Coleman,

- Anne Boothe (Triangle) new happenings are rural internet without a landline option, education classes we would like to see, GPDM strategic planning meeting in October and they would invite chamber members to attend,

- Julie Snellman (Art’s) new consumer financing options, extended warranties and appliance rebates on the horizon,

- Dr. Mike Veseth busy with HeadStart dental screenings and sealants for smiles,

- Rosemary Veseth (Kiwanis) working on repaining the gazebo at Veterans Park – weather permitting.

  • o Star Gazing Event
  • Held Thursday July 12th @ PCMS Drag Strip
  • Mardy Demarais, Steve Schumacher and Kevin Campbell facilitated
  • Nice attendance and great evening of star gazing
  • Like to hold it in Fall or Winter next year, better view of galaxy
  • Suggestion of getting ahold of Missouri River Country to help with advertising for this event outside of Phillps County
  • o Crazy Days July 21st
  • Nice number of vendors in park, down from last year though
  • Stores reported they had a good day
  • Look into changing date next year, and/or join forces with First State Bank during Car Show weekend
  • o Looking into Holiday Schedule and Holiday Festivities

  • Held Saturday August 4th , Ezzie’s Wholesale parking lot
  • Art’s Furniture donated use of their trailer at First State Bank for drop off items
  • 5,363 pounds collected

  • o Ribbon Cutting for Blue Ridge Brewery
  • Saturday, July 28th
  • Great turnout and lots of fun
  • Newest Chamber member
  • o Malta Chamber Summer “Olympics”
  • Held Saturday July 14th
  • 11 teams participated
  • Jet and Bri Anderson, Jace Anderson and Shae Bishop were top scoring team
  • Best Olympic Game and trophy went to Kid Curry Casino – Beer Pong Battel Ship
  • o Farmers and Artisan Market
  • Last Market held Tuesday Sept. 26th
  • All markets had great turnouts and lots of fun
  • Theme of last event “Fall Kick-off”
  • New vendors, photo shoot with Lynne Brewer, and DJ music provided by Chris Pippin
  • Many vendors and attendees said they wished it wasn’t the last market

  • o 2018 Christmas Scrip Deadline : Monday October 1st
  • o October fest Thursday, October 25th
  • Kickoff to Christmas Scrip
  • Soup Cook off, Scarecrow contest, Storefront Decorating
  • Parade of Lights will be held closer to Christmas this year.
  • Sunday November  19th @ 4:30pm
  • Holiday Committee members will be coming around with details tomorrow morning, Wed September 19th
  • o Putt Crawl
  • Set for Saturday November 17th
  • $60 per team
  • Have had 2 out of town people contact office about this years event
  • Look for it to be another successful event
